Bringing the store’s interior concept to life has been a family affair, led by Gabrielle Grew’s sister, an experienced interior designer. The hero is a custom-made Modieus carpet with a stunning geometric design that echoes the swirls of an Art Deco bracelet.
The soft, rich colour palette of dusty pinks, sage green and pared-back blues adds a warmth which is then echoed through the furnishings. These include smooth French oak cabinetry with resin countertops, playful hexagonal shapes throughout and the textural use of metallic and pastels.
At 150 square metres, the lush pace will have several key areas. The flowing showroom floor will feature a glass wall that looks through into the workshop, so that visitors can view the fine craftsmanship in process. Simon Grew has travelled the world to source cutting-edge tools and equipment. It’s almost as much of a joy to watch the creative process as to try the pieces (almost).
There will also be a private VIP area for high-end purchases and bespoke appointments.
The experiential and sensual, flowing nature of the store reflects our ethos that art isn’t only on the walls, it is something to be lived in and worn.
In the words of Koichi Takada,
"there is more to [design] than the creation of beautiful forms, and it must involve all of our senses."
