Australian Sapphire Engagement Rings

Australian sapphire covers more colour than most people expect. The stones here run through parti, teal and green, and parti is the one most people come for: a sapphire holding more than one colour in the same crystal, usually green, blue and gold together.

That colour comes from zoning rather than treatment. As the crystal grew it took up different trace elements at different moments, so the cutter decides how much of each band ends up facing you. It is why two stones cut from the same rough can look nothing alike.

Sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale, one step below diamond, which is the practical reason it holds up on a hand that gardens and washes up. Ask us about any stone on this page and we will tell you what we know about it, including the times the honest answer is that we don't know.
